California Leads the Way on Green Energy

California tech companies are leading the way on green energy and creating more jobs and investing than any of it’s competitors in other states.  The policy that is reducing the state’s consumption of fossil fuels also has payoffs for investors.  Shares of California companies in the NYSE Bloomberg Americas Clean Energy Index are forecasted to climb 96% in the next twelve months.  Governor Jerry Brown has announced the nations highest renewable-power targets, and tech companies are responding to the challenge.

Chinese As Suspected Culprits for the Anthem Breach

The investigation on Anthem’s data breach produced evidence suggesting that Chinese state-sponsored hackers stole personal information from health-care companies for purposes other than pure profit.  80 million customers social security numbers along with other sensitive details were exposed making this crime one of the biggest thefts of medical-related customers data in U.S. history.  The path of this attack follows other thefts of medical data according to a U.S. government official who is familiar with the more than yearlong investigation.

Net Neutrality Making It’s Way to Action

Federal Communications Commission chairman, Tom Wheeler, published Wednesday his proposal to treat both wired and wireless data services as public utilities under Title II of the Communications Act of 1934.  This means that broadband providers – Verizon and AT&T – will have to deal with greater regulatory oversight.  The FCC is redefining the meaning of being an Internet provider.  Wheeler’s goal is to implement the idea that forbids business from unfairly discriminating between customers, which ultimately restricts them from creating “fast lanes.”
