Since 1902, The Children’s Institute improved the quality of life for amazing kids and families by providing access to strategic and compassionate special needs services. When the team approached Blue Archer for a website project, we were thrilled for the opportunity to help this amazing Pittsburgh non-profit organization.
The Children’s Institute came to Blue Archer with a nearly decade old site that was built on Business Catalyst, an Adobe platform that retired in 2021. They needed a fresh website built on secure technology and an intuitive CMS to enable the team to make ongoing updates to the site after launch. The new website needed to strengthen the brand, drive and track referral sources, increase donations, and drive strategic recruitment.
We developed the new website on a multipurpose, rapid development, full-stack code framework that is made for the responsive web. Built on bootstrap, the most popular HTML/CSS/Javascript framework in the world, the website is both secure and lean. This creative, engaging site now includes custom functionality that meets users’ needs and ensures an intuitive website experience.

Our design team wanted the look and feel of the site to capture the youthful, inviting characteristics of the brand. We leaned into the watercolor assets in their branding guide and used the watercolor theme throughout the site as background elements and hover states. Together with textures, layers, and gradients, the design came together as a creative, family-oriented online space.

The Children’s Institute was interested in optimizing their services for the general Pittsburgh area. Our marketing team conducted comprehensive keyword research for both national and Pittsburgh demographics in order to pinpoint insights regarding users’ search habits. Ultimately we optimized 30 key service pages on the website.
The team at The Children's Institute is caring, kind, and committed to continuing to improve and expand the website to meet users' growing needs. We look forward to supporting this amazing non-profit for years to come!
