It's been a whirlwind of a week, what with both Thanksgiving and the craziness that is Black Friday. With everything that's been going on, it's not expected of anyone to keep up with what's been going on in the cyber world. Pretty soon it'll be back to the grind and it's a good idea to start catching up. Don't worry, we have you covered! Here's what you may have missed:
Sickweather
A new app was just released called Sickweather, and it holds quite the concept. Basically, Sickweather uses real-time alerts to let people know when they enter sick zones. These sick zones can appear anywhere, from schools to airports and workplaces. The app is only available for iOS at the moment, but it wouldn't be surprising to see it move across to other interfaces. Sickweather uses reports of illnesses mentioned on social media, as well as notifications to send out health alerts.
Small Business
Pinterest has been in use through big companies and corporations for a while now. But they aren't the only ones who can utilize this interesting social network. Small businesses can make the most of Pinterest too. This article was published about small businesses using Pinterest, along with stats about Pinterest and business. These stats are definitely worth taking a look at. Did you know that in the UK alone, Pinterest has seen a 786% increase in traffic in the last year alone? Pretty amazing.
Gmail Update
Did you hear about Gmail's latest update? If not, that's okay. But there's quite a bit you can learn about Gmail's changes. There are a few new features that were released, as well as some updates. One of the biggest changes with this update is that you can now download attachments from emails to your Google Drive. You can even send the attachment to a specific folder within Google Drive. Gmail has also introduced the idea of "action" buttons. These buttons appear to the right of your inbox, and when clicked they will scan the contents of your emails for important information, such as flight dates, appointment times, etc.
Advertisers
It's never a bad idea to look at some of the top corporations and companies out there--to see what they're doing, what works, what doesn't work, etc. Even if you are a small business, you can take a look at these strategies, and form them into your own marketing or business process. This article provides a list of the 35 biggest advertisers on Facebook. Some of these companies should come as no surprise, such as Samsung and Microsoft. Others, however, may come at a surprise. The second biggest advertiser with Facebook is a company called Proctor & Gamble, which isn't as well-known as certain product brands.
Tweet Experiments
Twitter has been continuing their tweet recommendation experiments with an account called @Magicstats. This account goes through and "favorites" the best tweets that appear in real-time. The account finds these tweets by looking at different stats, such as the amount of likes and retweets a certain tweet will get in a certain amount of time. Because of these "favorited" tweets, Twitter has noticed the rise of products that it ends up promoting.
Have a nice weekend, and look forward to even more updates coming this next week. For more information on marketing through Pinterest, contact a Blue Archer Professional.
