Better late than never. Here's your (day late) weekly recap of all things tech! Pittsburgh listened to my cry for warmer weather, and it punished me with 90-degree humidity in a third-floor apartment. So that will be the last of my requests for the 'burgh in this platform space. 

The 40-Hour Work Week Is a Thing of the Past

Though not exactly a “tech update”, this update affects most tech workers.

The Wall Street Journal came out with an article this week stating that the whole 9-5 thing doesn’t exactly happen for most folks. And, we’re not just talking about entrepreneurs here.  A survey of almost 10K full-time employers across 8 countries revealed that for most people, responsibilities have increased while wages have remained stagnant. Wearables and smart phones have made the 8-hour work day more flexible, but in turn, most people no longer abide by 2-day weekends. With email right at your fingertips, admit it – you’re checking your inbox on Sunday night… and Saturday… and during your kid’s little league game.

Apple and IBM are making iPads Special for Seniors 

Isn’t it endearing (code: frustrating) when your parents or grandparents attempt to use your iPad and they do things like quadruple click, accidentally minimize, and click on side bar ads?

Apple and IBM stepped in and said, “we got this”. The two tech giants announced on Thursday that they would be pairing up to create iPads especially for seniors. These devices would include special apps that help monitor health, medications and doc appointments, and home care services.

‘Incredible shrinking car’ Drives Sideways to Park in Tiny Spaces

If you think that headline should be dated 2080, you are not alone. But, it’s true. The EO Smart Connecting Car 2 could be the solution to your bumper-to-bumper morning commute. A group of German engineers have created n electric car that can shrink and drive sideways. 

It is able to reduce it's own size by about 80cm, which makes it almost as small as a bike in length. And with this kind of feature you can go into very tiny parking spaces. You are still able to turn on the spot, you are still able to drive sideways and you are still able to connect to charging stations, for example.

Don’t get too excited about your new Transformers lifestyle. Most car manufacturers aren’t all that interested in the early technology because they did not invent it themselves. But you never know…
