Back in 2013, Google + allowed some AdSense to use their newest content marketing feature +Post. This allowed folks to promote their content all over the web. Basically, you can now promote your Google + post so that it appears on Google's display advertising network.
This is a huge deal for your business.
The Qualifications
As I mentioned, this was only granted to a small number of AdSense users. Recently, Google +Post opened its doors to even more advertisers. However, there are still a few qualifications that you need in order to use the new feature.
Requirements
- Your Google+ page must have at least 1,000 followers
- Your post should contain content that's relevant to your audience
- You have opted in to shared endorsements for Google+ pages.
You will be using AdWords to create the ads. You can then promote a current post or a new one.
Check out the support document for more information on qualifications and to access a step-by-step guide on using this new feature.
Features
Google added a few new features since their last test on +Post. In the very basics of +post, you can select something great and promote it just like on many other social networks. However, this one will also get to be a Google Ad. The big emphasis is on the idea that content is king. Content is the new form of advertising.
The New Additions
- Hangouts on Air: You can promote a live streamed event. This will allow you to take action before, during, and after. This will also be recorded and users can RSVP for the event.
- Automatic post promotion: Set your account up to promote your newest Google+ post. You will only pay when your content is engaged.

Social Media
Since Google owns YouTube, this is also great for videos. You can customize your thumbnail images to make a static banner for your video +post. You can reference the support document mentioned above for more information on YouTube's involvement with +Post.
I am sure you are thinking that of course you can leverage YouTube using +Post. As we mentioned, Google owns YouTube. They can do whatever they want. It gets better though once we start involving Facebook.
You can now combine +Post ads and Facebook custom audiences so that they can work together to track analytics. You do this by installing a Facebook conversion pixel on the page you are trying to promote via +Post. This will help you narrow in on your target audience while reaching millions of people on Google' Display Advertising.
